I am a Trainee Financial Adviser at Ascot Lloyd and I am based at their King’s Lynn office. Currently undergoing Ascot Lloyd’s trainee programme, I am studying towards my Financial Planning Diploma as well as getting to grips with how the business itself works in delivering a service to clients. Their trainee programme will see me work alongside the administration and paraplanning team, before eventually moving on to the Adviser team where I will complete my training.

During my career so far, I have dedicated time into speaking about diversity and inclusion, and have worked on projects that encourage others to effect positive change and challenge the inequalities we face in our profession. Not only is this an area I am passionate about, but it is something I have sought to continue doing after I wrote my dissertation at university that focused on racial discrimination in the United Kingdom.

Once fully qualified as a Financial Planner, my goal is to return to academia to gain my Masters in Sociology, that will hopefully amplify my existing knowledge and insight into wealth disparities that are present in the UK amongst certain demographics. I would then like to go on to work on my PhD and begin to focus my career on offering support to demographics economically disenfranchised and affected by the advice gap – those that would benefit from financial advice, but either can’t afford it or do not have access to it.

I believe that everyone in our society should have access to financial advice, view financial planning as an option, and I strive to work in a profession that is inclusive and diverse, a true reflection of the society in which we live.
